As a representative of Friends For Democracy, Mallika Sarabhai has decided to stand as a candidate from the Gandhinagar Constituency.She stands as a Gujarati and a patriotic Indian to reclaim politics back from politicians. She is not a third force but has an alternative view of politics which wants to claim democracy back for the people.
We appeal to everyone who is against the politics of hatred, divisiveness and exclusion to join her movement.

· People and society are central to the political process· Politics has to be inclusive, non-divisive and non-violent· Politics must and should empower us· A just, compassionate, tolerant and open society is the way forward for our development· The development of our country should be equitable and sustainable, and not measured with economic indicators alone· Each citizen, including every woman, should have the opportunity to make choices and exercise their right to do so· The future of our country lies with our youth who, with the right means, can be effective change-agents

· To deepen the democratic process and the space by reclaiming the electoral politics for civil society· To make individual conscience count as a force of the political life· To give voice to the silences that Gujarat has come to accept· To make Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad a place which, once again, takes a lead in politics of the ethical· To bring justice and compassion to the heart of political life· To make Ahmedabad a humane city where people care, for each other, for the built environment, and for the earth· To make Gujarat safe, secure and a progressive state for girls and women· To mobilise the energy of the youth and motivate them· To make the premier academic and cultural institutions of Ahmedabad part of the imagination of the city, while strengthening their autonomy and national character· To have Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad become the knowledge corridor of the future
